Just wondered how the current global economic crisis has hurt - or helped - those involved in crisis management consulting and/or media training? While it looks like AIG, Bank America, General Motors and the like could use some good crisis management advice, they certainly haven't knocked on my door...yet. As for media training, it seems like lots of folks are postponing training until 2nd Quarter or later. |

With everyone watching declining budgets this year, training of all types is taking a big hit. But while some organizations may be postponing training for the time being, it's not like they can pull a switch and postpone crises. As a result, crisis management consulting and media training connected to crisis management continues. And, while some industries are heavily impacted by the current recession, some seem to be moving along better than others. We're finding that those organizations are continuing with what they believe is necessary training, which includes media training. We're even finding that many companies that are hard-hit by the recession still value crisis media training as a necessary investment. It's a shame that crisis media training is too often lumped in together with the rest of training programs, some of which, can be postponed without major negative impact. When you delay or cancel crisis media training, you're basically gambling that you won't need it. That's obviously a gamble some companies aren't willing to take. |
