As if the Republican Party in the US doesn't have enough of a problem with Rush Limbaugh as its designated leader (at least that's what the Democrats want people to think), RNC Chairman Michael Steee has yet another problem. First he criticized Rush Limbaugh and called his show "incendiary" and "ugly." He later publicly apologized to Rush. Now, he is saying he is "Pro Life" after indicating in an interview that he was pro choice. Sounds like the folks at the RNC have their hands full with damage control. From a crisis management standpoint, should he have apologized to Rush Limbaugh, or did he take more heat as a result of the apology? |

I'm not sure where either political party is going with this Rush Limbaugh vs. President Obama vs. Michael Steele, etc. However, it just seems to be getting dirtier and dirtier. Jen O'Malley Dillon, executive director of the Democratic National Committee, is currently soliciting funds to put up a billboard in Rush's hometown (I assume South Florida) criticizing him for saying he hopes Obama will fail. Didn't this all start with Obama's lieutenant, Rahm Emanuel, saying that Rush was the GOP's leader after he gave an hour-long speech at the GOP Conservative conference a couple of weeks ago? Think that he knew what would happen when he said that? Makes you wonder, doesn't it? |

Just got a view of the Rush billboard from the DNC. It says: "Americans didn't vote for a Rush to Failure." with a giant picture of Rush Limbaugh with a cigar in his mouth. What's next? |

What's next, you ask? RNC Chairman Michael Steele's job may be on the line. Jill Lawrence reports in USA Today that some conservatives are openly mulling whether Steele should keep his job. Some are saying he should either get to work or "get out of the way." Steele was quoted in CQ Magazine this month as saying that abortion is an "individual choice." He also said he believes homsexuality is "your nature" and he doesn't like "mucking around" with the Constitution. In contrast, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and a number of other GOP conservatives say being gay is a choice. Some of Steele's critics on the RNC are now questioning whether he was media savvy enough for the job he was elected to January 30. I guess it proves that you really ought to be thoroughly prepared for interviews and you really ought to watch what you say. And some wonder why we think media training/coaching is important. |
