An explosion at the SantoLubes LLC chemical plant in St. Charles, Mo., resulted in the injury of a worker and extensive damage to the plant. According to the Associated Press, a woman answering the phone at the plant Monday, said no one was available to comment. The injured worker was able to escape the fire on his own. Fire officials say he was hospitalized with burns over at least 30 percent of his body. |

This is exactly why even small chemical plants need at least someone who has had some degree of media training. They at least need a crisis strategy. In the St. Charles case, it seems the fire department ended up being the only spokesperson for the incident. The company showed no concern for their injured worker that I could see.
