After what they claim is a successful boycott campaign, Color of Change says at least 33 advertisers have dropped Glenn Becks Fox News television program, for calling President Barack Obama a racist. http://tv.yahoo.com/news/article/tv-news.en.ap.org/tv-news.en.ap.org-20090824-us_tv_beck_s_advertisers The advertisers include big names like Wal-Mart, CVS, Clorox and Sprint. (Oddly, Wal-Mart while boycotting his show, still carries all Beck's books in their stores.) However, I think Beck's AM talk show might be unaffected, because I do not think Gold Bond Medicated Powder, and Ovaltine are on the list. ![]() The question is, will this Boycott have any affect, or will it backfire on the advertisers boycotting his show? The are some now saying that the later might be the case: http://www.examiner.com/x-20909-Columbia-Independent-Examiner~y2009m8d24-Glenn-Beck-boycott-may-be-backfiring And a website has even opened to fight the boycott: http://www.defendglenn.com/ It all makes me wonder if Color of Change is really doing any damage to Glenn Beck, or if they just feeding Beck's need for controversy? |
