What do you think his attorney was thinking when he let - if not encouraged - Jerry Sandusky be interviewed via telephone by NBC's Bob Costas? A New York law professor - in a USA Today article - called Sandusky's admissions "legally insane." For the record, Sandusky did deny that he molested or had sex with any of the alleged victims, but when you admit that you were showering and "horsing around" with 10-year-old boys, it sure doesn't sound good. "Jerry is a big over-grown kid. He's a jock. The bottom line is jocks do that. They kid around, horse around," Sandusky's attorney, Joe Amendola is quoted as saying in USA Today. Really, is that what jocks do? They play around naked in the showers with 10-year-olds? Could be, I guess, that Sandusky felt he was so entrenched in the Penn State scandal already that he had nothing to lose. |

A columnist for USA Today wrote this week that the Penn State scandal may go down as the worst not only for college football, but for sports overall. As for Sandusky conducting a telephone interview with Bob Costas, it sounds like his lawyer not only encouraged it, but set it up with Costas. What was he thinking? |

Based on the latest news from Penn State, it sounds like Sandusky might want to quit doing interviews. The number of alleged victims is now up to 10 and the details on the incidents are awful. The only good point from a crisis management standpoint is that the new president of Penn State sounds like he's doing the best possible job under terrible circumstances. |
