A store clerk was killed Friday when Black Friday shoppers couldn't wait for the doors of a Long Island Walmart to open. They trampled over him and even other clerks who came to his aid. This is the ABC News account. http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=6353623 |

Giant retailer Walmart could have prevented the death of a temporary employee who was crushed in a Black Friday stampede in Long Island November 28, say federal officials. The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration is citing Walmart Stores, Inc. for inadequate management in the death of the 34-year-old worker who was killed when a crowd of 2,000 broke down the store's doors in search of bargains the day after Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, the AP reports that Nassau Count District Attorney Kathleen Rice is ending a criminal investigation of the stampede after Walmart agred to pay nearly $2 million and improve safety at its 92 New York stores. |

Following last year's death of a worker at the Wallmart store, the giant retail chain has changed its Black Friday policy. The store will be open 24 hours rather than having the mad...and fatal rush...that put a damper on last year's biggest shopping day. |
