NBC News is announcing a large round of layoffs this week as Gannett, owner of USA Today, continues to slash jobs throughout its giant newspaper chain. And, in the December 8 issue of USA Today, it is reported that Tribune Co., owner of the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune....and the Chicago Cubs, is mulling over the possibility of filing bankruptcy. (Will America let the Cubs go bankrupt?)
