Very interesting. I wonder how much of this is based on how President Bush felt he was treated by the Clinton Administration as he was coming into office. The Clintons felt W stole the election from Vice President Gore and reportedly treated the new administration poorly without much of anything in the way of preparing the new president to face potential crises. Then, of course, came 9-11. According to the article, this gesture is unprecedented. Taking this to a new level: How many outgoing corporate presidents go out of their way to brief their successor on dealing with potential minefields? How about those presidents who leave on less than desirable circumstances? |
